Part-time position for a Metabolomics Lab Expert at Perrotis College

The Metabolomics Lab Expert works independently in all chemistry/biochemistry lab equipment specialized on HPLC (High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography), GC/MS (Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry and other apparatuses for small molecules analysis.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Operating the above mentioned equipment;
  • Supporting all lab work of postgraduate students and faculty using the particular equipment;
  • Supporting research and participating in research teams;
  • Supervising graduate students during teaching in the particular labs;
  • Keeping well up-to-date with developments in new techniques, methodologies and metabolomics software;
  • Teaching in related short-courses addressed to faculty and postgraduate students;
  • Working with experts of the suppliers to ensure good use and maintenance of the equipment;
  • Assisting in the further development of infrastructure, new methodologies and software tools; and
  • Participating in the life of the School and collaborating with faculty members.

Depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected person, he or she could, in addition to the above, carry out independent research, supervise theses and carry out teaching.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate Studies in Chemistry/Biochemistry with emphasis in Metabolomic Analysis.
  • Proficient user of English.
  • A minimum of 3 years working independently in a high quality academic research environment specifically with HPLC (High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography) and GC/MS (Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry) on Food material.
  • Experience in metabolomic analysis software.

Desirable Personal Characteristics and Experience

  • Experience in supervising successfully the projects of taught and research students;
  • Ability to teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in Chemistry/Biochemistry laboratory work; and
  • Strong motivation and participation to department needs.

Faculty Openings at Perrotis College Graduate Programs

Perrotis College is introducing a School of Graduate Studies, which will award MSc Degrees in 5 different areas of concentration related to Agricultural Science and Marketing of Agricultural Products. The Graduate School builds on the AFS philosophy and long history of quality education focusing on applied research, practical training, and entrepreneurship, guided by the principles of social responsibility, as well as its century old experience as facilitator of many agricultural innovations for Greece and the area.

The School of Graduate Studies which will welcome its first class of students in the fall of 2017 will complement the College’s existing BSc Program, by providing the next tier of educational opportunities to students of the College as well as outside applicants.

Instruction at Perrotis College is conducted in the English language equipping our graduates to face the dynamics of the worlds of science, academia, and business internationally preparing them as well, for continuation at the Doctoral level abroad.

The Perrotis College Graduate Programs will be introduced in Fall 2017 with:

  • MSc in New Food Product & Business Development and,
  • MSc in Marketing for the Agro-Food Sector

  • Risk Analysis and Crisis Management
  • Applied Food Legislation and Packaging

Two Adjunct Faculty positions for the MSc in Marketing for the Agro-Food Sector program

  • Advanced Operations Management
  • Domestic & International Sales

Each faculty member is required to teach 3 classroom hours and to hold 1 office hour weekly per each 3 credit hour course. Faculty members are encouraged to participate in research and to design and lead student theses.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in the field of expertise
  • Proficiency level of spoken and written English
  • Teaching experience at University level preferably in English
  • Related research and publications

Desirable Personal Characteristics and Experience

  • Ability to work in a team
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to design and lead research
  • Industrial experience
  • Strong motivation and participation to department needs
  • Post-doctoral work
  • Familiarity with the US or UK educational systems
